I'm participating in today's Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's prompt is:
Top Ten Books On My TBR For Summer 2015
I'm kind of a moody reader. It's hard for me to say what my next ten books are going to be since my list is constantly changing based on what reviews I read, when my library holds come through, and what I'm in the mood for. But, if nothing changes in the next couple of months, these are the books that are next in the queue:
10. The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty
Liane Moriarty has been one of my favorite bookish discoveries of the past year. I have loved every book of hers I've read, and I'm eager to sink into this story.
9. Stardust by Neil Gaiman
I've heard that this book is wonderfully delightful. I loved the film, but didn't even know it was based on a book until recently. Must read it!
8. The Martian by Andy Weir
The trailer that came out last week looks amazing. But I want to read the book before seeing the film.
7. The Heir by Kiera Cass
My hold is almost through at the library. Squee!
6. The Magicians by Lev Grossman
Bridget sold this series to me. I've been wanting to devour it ever since she talked about it on my Series Series.
5. 5 to 1 by Holly Bodger
This premise sounds so unique and interesting. I hope the story delivers!
4. Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan
I'm not a huge nonfiction reader, but this book sounds lovely.
3. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
I've been waiting until the last book, Winter, is released to read this series. Now that it's almost here, I think it's time to read it! I've heard so many good things, I'm excited that I'll be able to enjoy the whole series at once. (Well, almost this whole series. I actually read Cinder a while ago, but at least I'll be able to read the last three in one fell swoop.)
2. Cress by Marissa Meyer
See above.
1. The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson
The Kiss of Deception was SO GOOD. I loved it. I've been looking forward to this book for a long time.
Have you read any of these? What are your thoughts on them? Are there any I should skip? What's next on your TBR?
I need to read Scarlet and Cress too. I want to wait closer to November, though, so I don't have to wait so long for Winter. :D
ReplyDeleteYeah, I feel like I have to time it just right so that I can read Winter soon enough to avoid spoilers. I'm really excited to finally get into this series that everyone seems to love so much!
DeleteI cannot wait until Winter comes out this Fall. I am so excited! I read Scarlet and Cress a few months ago and loved them! I want to start The Magicians too cause I've only heard great things about that one. Plus, I recently read The Selection and must finish the series. I hope you like them all. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Top Ten Tuesday!
I'm excited for Winter, too! (It feels strange for me to type that since I actually hate the season winter - snow and ice and cold... barf.) But three cheers for Marissa Meyer, The Magicians, and The Selection!
DeleteI thought Little Beach Street Bakery was fiction? Fab list :)
ReplyDeleteOh, is it fiction? I may have been misinformed. Clearly, I haven't read it yet so I can't say one way or the other.
DeleteNice list! I love STARDUST the book, but couldn't stand the movie. I'm a huge fan of the Lunar Chronicles series. For me, it just keeps getting better and better. I'll be really sad to see it end. As for Liane Moriarty, I discovered her recently, too. What a treasure! I've read and enjoyed BIG LITTLE LIES, WHAT ALICE FORGOT, and THE HUSBAND'S SECRET. BIG LITTLE LIES is my favorite, but they're all good.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Big Little Lies is my favorite from Moriarty as well! I can't wait to read the Lunar Chronicles and Stardust. I've heard so many great things about them!
DeleteThe Lunar Chronicles is a great series. Love it! I've been wanting to read The Martian ever since it came out. Something about the cover attracted me, but I keep putting it off. Now that the film trailer is out, it's lit a fire under me to read it. Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear more Lunar Chronicles love! I'm really looking forward to The Martian. Should be a great read! Hope you enjoy as well.
DeleteThe Heir was a fun read. Very different perspective than the America!
ReplyDeleteStardust is on my shelves to be read at some point in the future and Cinder is one I still need to read before these next two you have up. Happy Reading!
Here's My TTT
I'm selfishly glad her perspective is so different from America's. It will be nice to get a new voice!
DeleteI LOVED Scarlet, but I still haven't read Cress. I'm waiting for Winter as well. Stardust is one of those rare books where I actually liked the movie better.
ReplyDeleteSo excited about Winter! I enjoyed the Stardust film, but didn't realize when I saw it that it was based on a book. Now I want to compare the two.
DeleteI really want to read The Heart of Betrayal too! I really enjoyed The Kiss of Deception. And I'd like to read The Martian before the movie adaptation releases. I have read The Heir, but I didn't like it as much as the first three. I just didn't like the main character. But I hope you do enjoy it -and the rest of the list of course!
ReplyDeleteI just finished The Heir yesterday, and the protagonist certainly has some control issues. I can see why many have a hard time rooting for her. I'm a lot more excited for The Heart of Betrayal. I loved the first book!!
