I'm participating in today's Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's prompt is:
Ten Book Related Problems I Have
Let's jump in, shall we?
10. My hands go numb when I'm in a reclining position and holding a book on my lap for extended periods of time. Keep reading? Or allow some blood to flow to my hands? IT'S A TOSS UP.
9. I have responsibilities other than reading.
8. My body requires sleep. I would transform into a vampire solely for the ability to not have to be tired anymore. THINK OF THE READING I COULD GET DONE.
7. Sharon Shinn's last novel in her Elemental Blessings series doesn't have a title or even have a release date yet. WHAT IS THIS LIFE.
6. Hedwig. WHY?!?!?!
5. My books don't all fit on my bookshelves. Things are stacked vertically and/or double stacked all over those shelves. My organizational quirks start twitching every time I look at them.
4. George R.R. Martin's writing pace.
3. I don't own a single Sarah J. Maas book. Clearly I have no priorities at all.
2. Hogwarts is fictional.
1. I can't read Harry Potter for the first time ever again. *sob*
What are your biggest book related problems??
Great list! Oh I wish I could go without sleep. I could make an even bigger dent in my TBR list that way!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, right? It's so frustrating to sleep when you could be reading instead.
DeleteI couldn't sleep last night and seriously considered going back downstairs and reading some more. I ended up not doing it because I knew that doing that would ACTUALLY keep me up all night, whereas willing myself to sleep would probably only take me another hour or so.
ReplyDeleteI also lament not being able to read Harry Potter again for the first time, but I don't think I would like it so much as an adult. I'd have to go back in time and read it again as a kid :)
Good point about being able to read it as a kid. I was the same age as Harry Potter when I read it growing up, and that made a difference to me. Hope you were able to sleep last night!
DeleteHa ha ha! I love your reasons. And, I agree with Hedwig. I don't know why JK had to kill her. Her death and Dobby's affected me more than any of the other deaths.
ReplyDeleteSeriously! Those two were brutal.
DeleteI love that last one. We won't be able to read a lot of books for the first time ever again, but at least we can relive and reread.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, that is definitely something to look forward to. But it's never quite the same.
DeleteTHIS. ALL OF THIS. Especially the fact that Harry Potter made your list 3 times! (It's one of those moments when I'm like YOU ARE MY PEOPLE all over again.)
ReplyDeleteMy books are also absolutely everywhere. I have one bookcase where I've started stacking them horizontally on top of the 2 ft tall vertical bookshelf, and periodically I have to remove books off of the top of my horizontal stacks because they start to get taller than I am! (I also get slightly worried that it will start to lean and a) damage the books or b) fall onto one of the cats!)
&&then the arms-falling-asleep thing?? I totally get that during the summer, when trying to read on the beach. Especially when I'm not sitting in a beach chair and just holding the book over my head ... trying to read the Outlander books last summer was especially difficult ;)
Great post, Melissa!
So glad you can relate so well! I love that YOU ARE MY PEOPLE feeling. :)
DeleteHogwarts is fictional... Yeah, that's probably the worst one!

Definitely! *sob*
Delete1, 4, 5, and 9 cracked me up. Those were the best!! There are soooo many reader problems which are so aggravating, but none of them outweigh the joy of reading itself. c: My biggest reading problem is the number of books I want to read versus the number of books I actually get round to reading...
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely a huge problem, and one that makes choosing each book I read kind of bittersweet: for each choice I make, another book got left behind.
